Specifications for Book Chapter Submission
We invite authors to submit chapters that align with the following formatting guidelines to ensure consistency and professionalism in the final published volume.
1. General Formatting Guidelines
- Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font for the main text.
- Spacing: Double-spaced throughout, including titles, headings, and references.
- Margins: Set 1-inch margins on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right).
- Text Alignment: Left-aligned (not justified).
- Paragraphs: Indent the first line of each paragraph by 0.5 inches. Avoid additional spaces between paragraphs.
- Page Numbers: Insert page numbers in the bottom center of the page, starting from the first page of the chapter.
- Line Numbering: Do not use line numbers in the manuscript.
2. Chapter Length
- Each chapter should be between 5,000 to 7,000 words (excluding references, tables, and figures).
- Word count must be indicated at the end of the chapter.
3. Title and Heading Styles
- Chapter Title: Centered, bold, 14-point font, and capitalize only the first letter of each main word.
- Subheadings: Use bold for first-level subheadings and italic for second-level subheadings. Maintain a consistent hierarchy of headings (e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.).
- Heading 1: 12-point, bold, left-aligned
- Heading 2: 12-point, italic, left-aligned
- Heading 3: 12-point, regular, left-aligned
4. Figures and Tables
- All figures and tables should be placed within the text (not at the end).
- Label each figure/table as “Figure 1”, “Table 1”, etc. followed by a title/caption in italic.
- Figures: Must be high-quality images (preferably in .jpg or .png format) and legible when printed in black and white.
- Tables: Use simple, clear, and concise formatting. Ensure all columns and rows are clearly defined.
5. References and Citations
- Use the APA style for in-text citations and references.
- Example: (Smith, 2020) for in-text citations.
- Example for References:
Smith, J. (2020). Title of the Book. Publisher.
- List all references at the end of the chapter in alphabetical order, following the correct APA format.
- Citations should be in-text only; footnotes are not permitted.
6. File Format and Naming Conventions
- Submit your chapter as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file.
- Use the following naming convention for your file:
[Last Name of Author]_[Chapter Title] (e.g., Smith_ClimateChange). - All figures and tables should be included within the Word document; do not submit them as separate files.
7. Additional Notes
- Abstract: Include a 150-200 word abstract at the beginning of your chapter, summarizing the key themes and findings of your work.
- Keywords: Provide 3-5 keywords that best describe the content and theme of your chapter.
- Acknowledgments: If applicable, include any acknowledgments at the end of the chapter before the references section.
