Analysis of Indian Stock Market During Covid-19

Covid-19 was the unexpected and prolonged pandemic affected in our world. Countries across the world are facing severe damages. Its impact was terrible. Saving lives was the most challenging task that should be managed by every country. India also witnessing its negative impact on their economy. Lockdown and social distancing was the ultimate decision that was took by majority governments.as on May 1st 2020 about 25000 people in India have been affected by Covid-19.How ever country wise lock down leads to economic slowdown. this result in fall in foreign capital flows, crude oil prices, job loss and satisfaction. social distancing rise in social unrest. According to the Ministry of Health &Family Welfare, Government of India, the most important factor in preventing the spread of the Corona Cases locally is to empower the citizens with right information and taking precautions as per the advisories being issued by the Government. In this study I explore the performance of Indian stock market during Covid-19 pandemic by comparing BSE SENSEX and NSE NIFTY and try to find out the reasons for the volatility happened in Indian stock market during Covid-19 Pandemic. therefore, here I want to prove the following assumptions. Monthly Corona Cases and Death Rates in India have no significant impact on NSE NIFTY, Monthly Death Rates and Recovery Cases in India have no significant impact on NSE NIFTY and Monthly Corona Cases and Crude Oil Prices in India have no significant impact on NSE NIFTY. the same assumptions are tested on BSE SENSEX also. I choose Monthly Corona Cases, Monthly Recovery Cases and Death Rates and Crude Oil Prices are the independent variables and NSE NIFTY and BSE SENSEX are the dependent variable for my analysis part. Multiple Regression model is used to analyse my data and that will help to reach the conclusion that crude oil prices are the only one independent variable which affect the NIFTY and SENSEX returns. Corona cases, death rates, recovery cases are not affected the performance of Indian stock market.
